Donation Policy
We are aware that many priests and ministers maintain a fee schedule or require a contract and/or deposit, we do not. Our services are intangible, and of a purely spiritual or religious nature. We do, however, gratefully accept free will donations to further our activities.
Also our clerics do not receive any financial support or recompense from the White Robed Monks of St Benedict. Like St Paul, our priests and deacons are "tent makers." supporting ourselves and our families through various types of employment. We freely give our time, effort and skills to futher our mission of making the word a more compassionate place.
All of that being said, we ask that you consider the following factors should you decide to make a donation:
1. The officiant normally spends at least 10 hours per wedding. 2. The officiant is a highly trained and skilled professional, not a "mail order minister." 3. Some couples are not able to make any kind of donation. 4. A significant portion of any donation goes toward our charitable work in India, such as the Women's Village Project. 5. Administrative expenses for web sites, postage, telephone, travel, vestments, documents, etc are covered by donations.
With these in mind, after consulting with many couples we have served, we offer the following guidelines for donations.
Metropolitan DC, Northern VA, Southern MD $400 Metropolitan Chicago (Chicago and suburbs) $400 SE Wisconsin and NW Indiana $450 Other Midwest and Eastern locations: $550 plus overnight accommodations as necessary.
Donations made to the White Robed Monks may be tax deductible as the WRM is recognized by the IRS as a charitable organization. If you have any concerns regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to discuss this matter with the priest or deacon
